Is there a procedure (howto, tutorial) to upgrade from alpha 2 to alpha 3? without lose data?. And the new languge definition from alpha 3 i think are needed to be inserted in translator tool to be translated also.

The main changes between alpha2 and alpha3 are: three new products type(virtual products, downloadable products and gift certificates) , products variants and products attributes.
several fields are inserted into table products including:
products_moq => minimum order quantity
products_model
quantity_unit_class => products unit
order_increment

You can make a new install of alpha3 in your local computer and write a php script to import products, variants and attributes from your old database to alpha3's with new field to default value.
