why in the world can't i limit the number of products in a column under Categories??? this makes no sense to me. g

Hi. This functionality have been implemented in the administration panel.Please find the maximum values module under 'startmenu->configuration->configuration' and open it to set the Search Results field.For example, if the field is set to 5, only 5 products in one category will be displayed in the list per page.

Thx it helped i had to do the following: start->configuration->configuration->maximum values->and then set the desired Products Number to show in the Search Results. DONE
