How to make the best use of TomatoCart forum

From TomatoCart Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

1. Make a search

That’s the fact that the forum is there to help; however, people who are there to help you out, are not at your service, but instead are there to give you a favor!

Please do some research before asking. It is easy and it gains time for everyone.

2. Avoid duplicate questions

Do not post duplicate questions in case that the former one is not answered. It is a waste of time for others to answer the same question. Please report to moderators to remove it when you find a duplicate question.

3. Respect the forums and topics subject

There is a description under each board’s name. Thank you to take the time to study the sections available to determine which one is the best suited to your question. This will be beneficial for everyone. Others with similar problems can find the solution shortly in the future.

If you post in the wrong forum (for example, asking for support or submitting a bug request and posting in the "introduce yourself" forum). It will be moved to the correct area of the forum by moderators.

If you hijack a thread and add your own problem into the thread of someone else. The thread will be split into its own new post by the moderators.

4. Detailed questions

Do not hesitate to give details in your posts; you will obtain responses more rapidly and more easily, instead of other questions.

Ask yourself if specific information could be useful, like version of TomatoCart you are using, your hosting, etc.

Here is a list of information that could be useful:

Installation type (new/update):
TomatoCart version:
Theme (default/customized):
Code (original/modified):
Hosting:
PHP version:
MySQL version:
Browser(s) concerned:
Sreenshots of the problem:

5. [Solved]Topic

If, after posting a topic, you find a solution to your problem, thank you for indicating it in your post and to describe the solution.

There is nothing more frustrating for users who will find later on your post “problem solved”.

Furthermore if you are the author of the topic for which a solution has been found, please edit your first post and add the [Solved] tag at the beginning of the title.

Any abandoned topics that havent been answered in within 14 days will be locked.

6. Report a post

Do not hesitate to report it to the moderators by clicking on the [ Report ] link when a post violates rules in the forum.

If you have posted a message in the wrong forum, you can also use this function to ask for your post to be moved, specifying its correct location.

7. Moderators

Moderators are people we have faith in. They are volunteers to manage the forum, not paid. Please show respect for them. If the moderators in your community become inactive please let we know. You can post in this thread: New Moderators Recruitment: You Have the Conn.

8. Contributions

You are encouraged to share knowledge here with other members.
Share solution to specific problem with others.
Solve problems for others if you know how to.
Share a theme, module or even a piece of source code adding feature to TomatoCart, o fixing a bug in the forum or extension manager. It is important to specify the TomatoCart version.

9. PM

If you are requesting for free programming/customization work, please do not send pm directly when you are not allowed by others. In case of any commercial support, please post it at job board please!!!

If you have any other idea to make the most of the forum resources, welcome to indicate it below the thread named Advice for a better use of the forum.
